MERCURY MAILMAN EXHIBIT

Mercury Mail was an exhibit created for the Canadian History Museum located in Ottawa, Canada.

In 1977, Mercury Mail was a courier service created by Geoff Wannacott as part of an avant-garde art show called Postal Art 77. Geoff's idea was that Mercury Mail would provide a non-technical alternative to the more modern, intricate world of information conveyors. So Mercury Mail–Geoff–delivered all the mail in person and on foot.

In 1979, Geoff walked 7,193 kilometres in a trans-Canada trek that took about 6 months to complete.
